A favorite stream of PWFF, there is ample public access along the river from it’s headwaters near Leadville down thru the Royal Gorge along Hwy 50. House favorites are hitting the ‘Ark’ in the spring for the caddis hatch, and late summer chunking hoppers at the banks to ravenous brown trout. There’s camping in the area, while Salida and Buena Vista are both great options to spend the afternoon.

Another house favorite. The browns on the Yampa are no secret and rightfully so. There’s plenty of access along the Yampa River from Hayden to Yampa. The fishing in downtown Steamboat leaves nothing to be desired as well. For the slightly more adventurous, an afternoon detour to Sarvis Creek will likely be rewarding, as will wetting a line at the Stagecoach tailwaters (small flies, small tippet).
